Your dog truly rules when it comes to scenting ability, but you hold the key to allow him to learn how to more fully explore his kingdom. And that key is your willingness to work with him in what dog trainers call nosework exercises and games. While your dog has a wonderful innate ability to scent, nosework will present fun and interesting challenges which will make your dog more physically and mentally fit as well as to help solidify your relationship with your dog. Anne Lill Kvam’s The Canine Kingdom of Scent provides you all you need to know in terms of training techniques and tips so that you and your dog can both get all the benefits from doing nosework.

I started with k9 nose work with my weimaraner and bought this book to give me some background and practical tips on how to begin, even before i enrolled to class with my dog. This discipline is still pretty new in our country (Slovenia) and I wanted to broaden my horizonts on nose work. The book is great, it really introduces you to main key points on how to start with it, how to give dog a proper reward for finding scent, what you should be careful about (not overdo it, make it interesting gamw for the dog). Although it's a short guide it has plenty activities described into details for beginers like us.
I'm satisfied with it and would recommend it to anyone who wants to offer this great mental activity to their dogs. The book is appropriate for beginers, enough practical tips and in-depth explanations of how to make it interesting for the dog.

The Canine Kingdom of Scent Fun Activities Using Your Dog Natural Instincts edition by Anne Lill Kvam Crafts Hobbies Home eBooks Reviews
This book is full of great ideas for mentally stimulating games for any dog, written in a clear, positive, & step-by-step manner. Very useful!
As a SAR K9 handler, I'm always reading anything I can get my hands on regarding dogs and their incredible noses. This lady really knows her stuff and breaks down training into the tiny, positive steps which are so successful.
Extremely informative and highly recommended to dog guardians. Great exercises and lessons that are well explained.
This is perfect for getting your puppy tired!
My dog really enjoys the work and we're building towards the more challenging exercises. There's a great explanation of how to do everything and to make sure that they dog gets a break.
This is an excellent book on scent work for dogs. It can help both the novice and experienced tracker or, someone contemplating tracking or even someone who just wants to have fun with or develop and/or strengthen the bond with their dog.
I happened to find this book when researching the sport of nosework. I like to engage my dogs in activities that follow their natural instincts. The book introduces the reader to the scenting abilities of dogs and continues to provide activities to do with your dog that encourage them to use their scenting ability. It's a great book for someone who is thinking about introducing their dog to nose work and likes to challenge their dog with play activities. It stimulates their mind as well.
I showed it to a trainer at my local dog obedience center. Her focus is on nosework and tracking. She borrowed it and, subsequently, purchased one for herself and encouraged all of her students to buy it as well. She told me that it's the best book she's seen on the subject.
I bought this book for our little pug, who has difficulties with the heat in the summer.
And here is a great book for learning games and activities using her instincts for scent to get some excersice - and just for having plain fun.
If you (as myself) don't have any experience with working with a dog in this area - this book is a great place to start. The explanations are easy to follow and as the background is also explained you also understand why the described activities are good.
As the author writes the main problem is that the dog simply learns too easily - so be prepare for advancing quickly. This requires that once you begin you need to reserve some time for this the following weeks/months until you get the routine. But it is worth the effort.
